Letter for Baronial Polling

Good gentles, pray attend!

The time for our beloved Baron and Baroness to retire their coronets draws nigh. Upon Oldenfeld’s next Anniversary (May 2026), we seek to allow His Grace Ardien and Her Grace Lisa to lay down the mantle of the Baronage and rejoin the populace. As such, the barony is seeking nominations for the next pair of intrepid members who would take up this great burden of service.

Let any two who are paid adult members in good standing submit their names as candidates for the next Baronage of Oldenfeld, in writing to the Seneschal of Oldenfeld. Please include your member number and expiration date as well as full address. Nominations shall be open from the time of this announcement til the stroke of midnight, September 18, 2025 (Anno Societatis LX). Nominations will not be accepted from a third party – only directly from those who seek the baronage themselves. Candidates must be found acceptable by the Kingdom Seneschal and the Crown.

Think well on such a commitment before proffering your name, for long is the reign and heavy lies the coronet!

Any candidates approved by the Crown will be invited to gird their loins and face our fearsome populace in an open question-and-answer session during the business meeting at Hunters Glade on September 21. This will be an opportunity to showcase your wit, your eloquence, your ability to field off-the-cuff questions from the peanut gallery, and to elaborate on your vision for the coming four years.

Polling will open on October 1. Paper ballots (along with self-addressed, stamped envelopes) will be mailed on October 1 to all registered members of the barony. Those who wish to participate in the voting must be paid members of the Society as well as residents of one of the zip codes which constitute the barony. If you wish to verify that we have your correct mailing address, please contact the seneschal ASAP.

Membership number and expiration date as well as address, including zip code, must be included for the ballot to be considered valid. If the person wishing to submit their ballot is not on the membership list provided by the kingdom, they must provide acceptable proof of current membership and residency before being permitted to complete a polling form.

Mail-in ballots must be postmarked no later than October 31. Completed ballots must contain your modern name, your SCA name, your membership number, the expiration date of that membership, and your mailing address, including zip code.

Please direct any questions or nominations to seneschal@oldenfeld.org

Yours in service,

Lady Eua of Newcastle
