People in the SCA practice two different types of fighting, representing two styles of fighting practiced in period.
Rattan | Rapier | Target Archery
Rattan fighting requires rigid armor and uses rattan to simulate weapons.
The rattan fighter community practices once a week. They meet at 11am on Sunday at Landis Green (right in front of Strozier Library), at FSU.
We welcome one and all to watch and ask questions and perhaps even give it a try!
Rapier fighting requires armor made of tear-resistant fabric and uses unsharpened metal swords as weapons.
The rapier fighting community practices most Sundays with the Rattan fighters. Practice is held starting at about 11am on Landis Green on FSU campus.
Target archery practice is (most) Sundays at 3pm at the coronets' house. This schedule will be interrupted for event related or mundane conflicts, which will be announced in advance.
You are encouraged to obtain your own bows and arrows. There is a limited amount of loaner gear, but the attrition rate of arrows makes it cost prohibitive for us to provide them for everyone on a continuing basis.
